Driver 'dragged' pedestrian for 100 feet before abandoning car after hit-and-run

A man was critically injured after being struck by a car in York.

Police responded to the area of Duke and North Streets at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person hit by a car, according to PennLive.com.

“Upon arrival officers determined that a motor vehicle struck a pedestrian and dragged him approximately 100 feet before abandoning the vehicle,” a statement from the York Police Department said.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to York Hospital in critical condition.

A photo from the scene shows a large bandage on the young man’s forehead.

It’s not clear why the pedestrian was on the sidewalk.

The driver has not been apprehended, although police said they are searching for a white sedan that left the scene, which belongs to a second person.

“It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved,” police said.

York Police Department detectives and the York City detective bureau are investigating.
